East Texas students with visual impairments buy gifts for others, learn life skills at ‘Vision Christmas’

It was also an opportunity for students to be in community.

“They may be the only student in their district, with a visual impairment or blindness, and so that could be very isolating,” said Lannette Burlingame, the program coordinator for the Lighthouse. “So an event like today will allow them to be with students from other school districts from around East Texas, so that is something that is…priceless.”
